Fees and Rebates
Referrals
You do not need a referral or mental health care plan to attend appointments. However, if you would like to claim a rebate via Medicare, a mental health care plan and referral letter from your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician will be required to process the rebate.
The Australian Psychological Society (APS) guidelines recommend a fee of $311 for a 50-minute psychology consultation. In an effort to make quality mental health services more accessible, the practice has reduced its fees to $240 for a standard 50-minute session. With medicare rebates, this equates to an out-of-pocket fee of $98.15.
Please note: after hours appointments (after 5pm) are set at a fee of $260 for a 50-minute session.
Medicare Rebates
The Medicare rebate available for each consultation is $141.85, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year under a valid Mental Health Care Plan. Please speak with your GP to see if you’re eligible.
Please note: Higher rebates are available for people who have exceeded the Medicare Safety Nets threshold for the calendar year (click here for more information).
Private Health Insurance
You may be able to receive rebates for psychology appointments through your private health insurance. Please check with your private health fund to determine your exact cover. At the end of each appointment, an invoice will be provided to you which you can use to process claims with your insurance provider.
Please note that you are unable to claim from Medicare and your health fund for the same consultation.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend an appointment in-person, you may also request to attend the appointment via telehealth if suitable. However, if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible to avoid incurring a late cancellation fee.
The following fees are applicable for late cancellations and missed appointments:
- Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of appointment fee
- Less than 24 hours’ notice: 100% of appointment fee
This fee compensates for the time reserved for your appointment. Without advance notice, another client could have lost the opportunity to secure that appointment slot.
Please note: cancellation fees cannot be claimed from Medicare or private health insurance.
