Adolescent Therapy Services

What to Expect

Initial Assessment and Goal Setting

The first step involves an initial appointment where you (the young person) meet with Jaclyn to discuss your concerns, background, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. During this session, she will ask various questions to better understand your situation and help you set specific goals for therapy.

If appropriate, this may also involve interviews with parents (with or without the adolescent), and further information gathering from schools or other parties involved in the young person’s care.

Therapeutic Intervention

Once goals are established, Jaclyn will work with you through various therapeutic interventions tailored to your needs. This may include giving you practical skills to build your toolkit to cope with life, and/or providing a safe and non-judgemental space to process your thoughts and feelings. Depending on the needs of the adolescent. This may or may not involve some sessions with parents. If appropriate, we may also work with schools to put together a management/support plan.

Progress Evaluation

Throughout the therapy process, we will regularly assess your progress towards your goals. This evaluation may involve discussions during therapy sessions, completion of assessment tools or questionnaires, or other methods to track changes and improvements in your mental health and well-being.

Maintenance Plan

When you feel ready to finish with therapy and/or have achieved your goals, we will work together towards finishing up in a planned and supported manner. This may involve discussing strategies for maintaining progress independently, scheduling follow-up sessions and creating a plan for managing any future challenges.
